When I was in the Army from 84-90, I was support and qualification was an absolute joke. Laughable. Embarrassing. Glad to read that they’re updating it.

Iron cross is curved, but is a cross pattee’
. Last I checked, Germany doesn’t own Malta. (Maltese cross).

Yes and they have for a long time. I don’t understand what’s so funny.

Support marksmanship has always been pretty weak compared to combat arms MOS, such as what you would get at Benning for 11B positions.

You’re right about the iron cross, but they aren’t Maltese crosses either, which have V-shaped arms . The Marine sharpshooter cross is a good example.

It would be sort of ironic because of Nazi Germany but they aren’t iron crosses anyway.

You are right. Apparently (having just read an article on heraldic crosses), the indents on a Maltese cross are crucial as a sign of its origin as a cross Moline. Eenteresting. Apparently the sharpshooter cross is a kind of Pattee’, but a variation, not standard.

I would think the association with germany, specifically nazi germany (although it was in use before and after). Although I'm sure it dates way far back in the past.
